Human Rights Violations Report in Sudan North Kordofan State

Since the start of the ongoing war on the 15th of April 2023, Justice Africa Sudan (JAS) has documented many cases of human rights violations through our networks of human rights monitors, activists, and members of emergency rooms committees in Khartoum. Our reporting covers all states experiencing grave human rights violations: Khartoum (all seven localities), greater Darfur states (four states), and greater Kordofan (three states).

Activists and human rights monitors face very challenging conditions on the ground. Many have been subjected to harassment by the warring factions for documenting serious human rights abuses and violations such as extrajudicial killings, kidnapping, rapes, torture, looting of personal property, forced displacement, and forced marriages.

The alleged crimes of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) amount to serious violations of the Geneva Conventions, 1949, and the four Additional Protocols. Both are simultaneously violating the Jeddah agreement signed in May 2023 to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, and to allow the delivery of humanitarian assistance. Many of the civilian casualties were killed by indiscriminate aerial bombardment and long and medium range launchers with insufficient targeting.

With the war extended to many regions including North Kordofan State and White Nile State, the movement of people and goods has become incredibly dangerous, leading to severe shortages of essential commodities and medical supplies.
