Statement Condemning Kidnapping and Forced Recruitment in the Nuba Mountains and Calling for Immediate Unconditional Release

We are deeply concerned by reports that Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army-North (SPLA-M-N) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have kidnapped and forcibly recruited young men to serve as fighters in their war against Sudan Armed Forces (SAF). Such actions constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law and human-rights standards. The kidnapping by SPLA-M-N and RSF (Tasis alliance) took place in areas controlled by SPLA-M-N in the eastern part of South Kordofan. specifically, the three localities of Rashad, Abu Karshola, and Al-Abassya Tagali . The young men were kidnapped from some villages in those localities include Abu Al Hassan, AL Mansour, Toma and others. Some were taken from the gold-mining areas of the Karnik and Brilmail mountains and transported to military training camps.
