Dialogue of Sudan’s Marginalized Groups

The Dialogue of Marginalized Groups is an innovative attempt to rethink the problems that are currently facing Sudan. Recognizing that alternating periods of elite and authoritarian rule have resulted in deterioration of the fabric of civil society, citizen participation, the economy, security, livelihoods and the cultural life of the nation, we are attempting, through an alternative forum to envisage and plan for a more inclusive future. The goal is to create a common platform across all the relevant stakeholders so that representatives from the marginalized areas can bring empirically grounded questions, problems and solutions for discussion.

The Dialogue is a process rather than an event. Its goals are to engage participants across all the areas now affected, in order to identify a set of common problems, before asking its members to go back to their communities to work on possible solutions and best practices. Drawing from community leaders, NGOs, civil society groups, activists, policy practitioners and intellectuals who come from every walk of life and age cohort, we aim to bring together a network whose main concern is change and inclusion for all.

Members of the Dialogue will not only have a chance to shape the future of Sudan and engage with leaders of tomorrow, but will also have access to cutting edge research and networks that are able to effect change on the ground.
